Michelle Banfield

Dr Michelle Banfield is a Senior Research Fellow at the ANU Centre for Mental Health Research. Her research interests include effective services and policy for mental illness. She heads the Lived Experience Research Unit at the Centre for Mental Health Research, with a special interest in qualitative and mixed methods research on the lived experiences of people with mental health issues.

She has held an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award fellowship looking at service access and navigation for people with serious mental illness and an MRFF Translating Research into Practice Fellowship to explore the implementation of mental health peer work to improve workforce capacity.

Michelle is a part of the Sustainable Farms mental health research team, contributing to research on the quality and distribution of services in rural Australia.
