Bregje is a research fellow with Sustainable Farms. She completed her PhD on an online self-help program for suicidal thoughts in the Netherlands in 2012 and subsequently moved to Australia to replicate the trial she conducted in the Netherlands to test the effectiveness of this program. As such, she has gained substantial experience in setting up and running online randomised controlled trials. She also completed a psychology internship in a rural area in Suriname and has been involved in a psychological autopsy study, various systematic literature reviews, and questionnaire development and evaluation. Her broad research interests are suicide prevention, rural mental health, and e-mental health.
Bregje’s research interests and skills, combined with a personal passion for sustainability, make her excited to work with Sustainable Farms to explore how sustainable farming practices might impact on mental health and what tools we might be able to develop to help farmers better manage their mental health within this context.
